Type of Hair in Dogs

Different types of dog breeds that exist around the world have different shapes and sizes are available, as well as hair that is owned by the dog. Dog hair has a variety of types ranging from the type of straight, curly, short, fine and coarse. The following article will discuss each of the types of hair in dogs.

1. Double coat (double coat)

Dogs that have a double coat of hair types have thick hair that is composed of two layers, namely the outer hair hair (outer coat) and a bottom layer of hairs (undercoat). The second layer of hair growing on their own and have a different length. The characteristics of the outer hair that has a rough texture, longer and shiny and waterproof. Outer hair tends to grow more slowly than the lower layers of the hair. At the bottom layer of hair has a soft texture, short and tight and it grows faster than the outer hair. 2. The single coat (single coat)

Hair type only has a single outer hair coat (outer coat) and does not have a bottom layer of hair (undercoat). Usually the dog with a single coat of hair types have a uniform type of hair on all parts of her hair. Hair type single coat is generally shed less than the double coat of hair types. Dog breeds that fall into this hair type are: Doberman Pinscher, Rottweiler, Pitbull, Bulldog, Dachshund, Bull Terrier, Beagle.

3. Headed smooth (Smooth Coat)

With the type of smooth-haired dog has very short hair and very close to the skin. This hair type can be a double coat or single coat. Care (grooming) to dogs with this type of hair has a very easy and does not need too many treatments (low maintenance). Grooming can be done occasionally to remove dead hair and makes the hair remains shiny. 4. Headed rough (wire coat)

Dogs with this type of hair has a wavy or curly hair, and when you hold the hair feels rough. Hair type is usually a double coat, but there are some breeds of dogs in the form of a single coat. Dogs with coarse hair types have outer hair (outer coat) hair rough and the bottom layer (undercoat) softer. This type of dog hair should be treated with a hand-stripped to preserve the texture and color of the original, but many dog owners on dog hair cuts for easy maintenance and minimize maintenance costs dog. 5. curly haired (wool coat / curly coat)

Dogs with this type of hair has a curly hair shaped and easier to recognize. Curly-haired dogs need extra care and require special techniques in drying and cutting his hair style. Dogs that have very few types of curly hair. Dog breeds that fall into this hair type are: Poodles, Irish Water Spaniels, Bichon and Portuguese Water Dog.
