Bart Bellon, World Top Dog Trainer
"Bart is a modern dog trainer, dog training system that is NePOPO inspired by nearly 40 years of experience covering history, education, life experiences, political, and practicality. Bart grew up in Central Burundi, East Africa between 1960 and 1974. It was a beautiful childhood, on the one hand, with parents & siblings loving nan intelligent. On the other hand, it is a childhood in an area famous for its war with genocide and leadership prerogatives of predators where individuals and groups are replaced national interests. Her interest in dogs began in Burundi, where the dogs are used to protect the soil. Thieves and bandits using poisoned meat to kill the dog to gain access to the property. The dog was the only survivor is a dog is taught to eat only certain types of food, from a certain bowl, of a particular person, designated by the hand, and with a special command. (This strategy has a series of backup plans in dog training is maintained and never forgotten) They teach the dog to do what they want, they can pay (with the type of food, from a certain bowl) when the dogs follow their will. But even so, they know exactly that when the opportunity to cheat (conflict) arises where the dogs will jump on mine (go for the meat ban) and when that happens, we use the ancient technique of pressing: they would shoot the dog with a gun specific (such as rubber bullets) to tell the dogs to not approach the meat of the ban, the shooter is invisible to the dog. This was my first experience with dog training.
After the genocide and massacres of Hutu and Tutsi in the early 1970s, the region is becoming increasingly unstable. Bart family returned to Belgium in 1974. He lived in Sit-Katelijne-waver, a small town near the city of Mechelen. As a child of Africa, he is always researching because Mechelen Mechelen town is the home town of Malinois sheepdog called. Once in Belgium, Bart immediately bought Malinois. It is the result of breeding neighbor who is a coach Ringsports. He was an important man Ringsports club near his home and the club is one of the most successful clubs in Belgium. After going to the club Ringsports Bart, Bart dogsport addiction. At that time, however, a child is 14 (even with the body of an adult) should be more silent among those who are older, because it is the lowest in the rankings. The club members do not talk to Bart. They ignore it. Bart went every day and watched. After six months of observing quietly, the opportunity came. One day the pain Helper, and Bart was asked to be a temporary helper. After the incident, Bart has always been a helper for the club!
Members do not see capacity as a dog trainer Bart training seriously, and no one helped him with his dog. Bart started to train and play with his dog: tying burlap bag of potatoes around the tree and make a dog bite on the "dead rabbits". He learned the value of training itself (This is another aspect of her training never forget). Bart always has new ideas of his own which often ideas. It is the spontaneity that is not meant to be a system but when Bart was smart enough to analyze what he does on instinct (which after her college), she realizes that she has inadvertently discovered a system that makes the dog an accurate, fast, tough and striking. NePoPo does not have a name at the time but has become a spontaneous system utilized. Members of other clubs and coaches mock how he trains because they do not understand. During the four years at the club with a Bart train of ancient methods and will be finished in time.
During high school, Bart is a soccer player and once he had a career in football if he did not have a knee injury. Bart pleased with the athletic world and has a social nature wise and so when he went to the University, he learned to be a gym teacher. Bart learn about how the process of learning itself. Bart learn about psychology. He studied Skinner, Pavlov and Maslow. Bart fascinated with Maslow Pyramid depicting the hierarchy of needs. Base of the pyramid is the most primitive physical needs (food, shelter, sex reproduction) and the top of the pyramid of higher levels of intellectual and emotional needs. When he considers relates to the dog, he realized that this pyramid can explain what it's called and how long prize gift is a gift, and what is the penalty and how much penalty is a punishment. According to Maslow's theory, if we are really hungry we will eat what is offered. When we are cold, we will accept any jacket regardless of color or style. On the other hand, if we are full, we will only accept favorite desserts we may with some old cognac. Maslow's theory when applied to dog training can be understood if you consider the mental attitude of a trained dog in a way that is existential: working for a living. This is the way that wild animals survive. For example, when a hungry hawk, he was motivated to search for food and he concentrated because the pay is costly mistakes and affairs of life and death. Therein lies the ideal balance between motivation and concentration. When Maslow's theory is used in the training, dog trainer can prepare dogs to be more motivated and more concentrated. The dog showed high drive and precision.
Just graduated from college in 1982 and immediately served two years as an officer in the Paratroopers. There Bart learn military training techniques: hierarchy, how to lead, and how to motivate. He learned to prize the military world is no penalty. What he learned was that he was a spoiled young guy Maslow V and the military took him to a more basic level. What he learned at the University, along with the skills and knowledge he learned as Paratroopers, showed that ancient training techniques at the club was not good. ancient techniques with teachings contrary to good scientific learning theory and the Animal Welfare law which states that it is prohibited to provide the pain and suffering of animals without a valid reason. Bart understands that he's not been on the wrong track so far though dog training method is certainly extraordinarily unique and universally ignored. Bart felt like Copernicus. He began thinking about how he can combine all this knowledge in training dogs to formulate a total system for training dogs that will apply to all disciplines.
Starting in 1986, the world began Bart ringsports. He developed a passion and follow all ringsports like Frenchring, Mondio Ring, KNPV and IPO. If you are on the road telling people how to train a dog with positive and negative reinforcement and stimulation of repair, with chokechain, prong collars, whips, ecollar, ball, clicker, food, etc: all have aspects to be included in the system that can be accepted politically. In most countries in Europe, prong collars and e-collars are used even though officially banned by stealth. Helmut Raiser is one of the first people in the world who are able to tell people what he did in training; received his honesty about his training methods. He can explain things to make them politically acceptable. However, in the midst of a revolution training in Europe in the mid-1990s, we were confronted with a book Karen Pryor, "do not shoot the dogs". Animal protection groups are politically active to use this book as evidence that only positive training necessary to become an effective and humane. Bart and many other coaches must re-evaluate their training towards it.
At the training NePoPo got its name. This is a positive negative positive. The system is a system where a correction NePoPo dogs do not cause fear. This negative followed by positive reinforcement creates behavior. Therefore, the unpleasant feelings causes a behavior appears (Pavlov). Then you can use the same negative stimulation in correction mode that will soon bring a dog from unwanted behavior into desired behavior. Using NePoPo system, the dog is prepared for when he will receive the conflict, he would do the wrong thing, he will receive a correction, but the correction would soon propel him from the unwanted behavior into desired behavior with understanding and confidence and speed. Coaches can not deny that the training should come with consequences. There should be consequences for both the do and do not do the exercises. That is why training is positive does not work when there is a disturbance or conflict that is stronger than the reward. For all the training, we must ask the following questions: What do I do when the dog does not? What do I do when the dog does not, but he can not? What should I do when the dog does not do despite the fact that he knows exactly what to do? This applies to every aspect of training a dog, because dogs, police dogs, military dogs, and sporting dogs.
Bart NVBK won his first championship in 1992 with a talented dog but outside the control of which he bought in 1986 when he was three years old. It was ugly, but he wins. Bart was not entirely pleased with his performance. IPO has a beautiful style; Ringsports, however, is not required to be gorgeous. In Ringsports, the dog should do, there are no extra points for beauty. After the 1992 victory, he began to use a system that will provide a striking picture of the dog while keeping strong and tough and very obedient. In NePoPo dogs do not fight the system because he found his advantage in the system. From 1992 to 2002, when Bart is the Director of Training at the club, Bart makes seven Belgian champion Ringsports (Bart with two different dogs and five members of his club with five different dogs.) In 2002, Bart has perfected his technique with his dog Zodt. Bart scored the highest score ever achieved (before or after) in Belgium Ringsports championship. Now people want to know: how Bart do this? After that, it makes Bart NePoPo systems became popular in the IPO. NePoPo system is humane and effective, and there is no sacrifice of control and encouragement.
A farmer tells Bart his future a few words of wisdom about dog training. He said the coach can use sticks to direct the dog. He can use the same stick to stroke the dog affection. He can use the same stick to turn the dog (eg, "go!"). He can use the stick to punish the dog. When the training is clear and understandable, that the same stick with a dog that had just convicted can be used as a stick to play "fetch and play".
